Colorectal Surgery

The academic colorectal unit within NHS Lothian and the University of Edinburgh offers opportunities for robust research into colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, proctology and emergency general surgery. The large tertiary teaching unit has a high throughput of elective and emergency colorectal and general surgery, dedicated research nurses and six consultant surgeons with academic sessions. The unit boasts an established pathway for both translational and clinical studies, with a strong portfolio of studies in genetic studies and most recently polyp colorectal cancer.
